The Whyte 19 CNC machined Rear Dropout offers a method of stepless adjustment of the Chain Stay length from 415 to 435mm. The Right hand (drive side) drop-out plates are also completely interchangeable offering the user the choice of having either a derailleur hanger for use with gears or a lighter custom plain dropout for use with a singlespeed drive system. The stepless nature of the Chainstay adjust also facilitates very precise chain tension adjustment. When adjusted on the longer chainstay lengths the rear of the bike runs at a slightly lower ride height giving a slightly more relaxed feel that when combined with the long chainstay length really helps stabilise the bike on those long technical descents. Shortening the chainstays raises the B/B slightly for better ground clearance, improves climbing performance and sharpens turn in for tighter single track use.

All the retaining screw threads are machined into the replaceable dropout plates and so if the unthinkable should happen and a thread becomes damaged by over
tightening then a new plate can be supplied and fitted. Both side plates are engraved with markings to help the user to maintain accurate wheel alignment and also allow the repeatable and accurate return to previous settings. The brake calliper is mounted onto the adjustable dropout plate and moves exactly with the wheel and so no adjustment of the brake calliper is required following chainstay length adjustment.
